Cricket lovers in Sultanate of Oman welcomed the New year 2010 by playing a memorable , executive class tournament on 31st December night. This was the first of its kind cricket tournament organized in sultanate to welcome and celebrate the new year 2010.This cricket tournament was organized by Gulf Sports Club (Muscatcricket.blogspot.com) A huge cricket community from sultanate was present to witness the live cricket matches on 31st night. Stadium was full at its capacity and the cricket fans welcomed the new year by playing the top class cricket. In the Grand Finale match Al Faisal Group trounced Muscat Private Hospital to Lift the Proton sponsored Proton Cricket Cup 2010. Having attracted an overwhelming response, the organizers declared the event to have been a huge success, providing entertainment and enjoyment not only for the eight teams participating but also for the large crowd of keen supporters who watched the day's proceedings with great pleasure and welcomed the New year during the Finale match. Organizers said “We are extremely thankful to our sponsors teams , spectators and wish to congratulate all a very very happy new year 2010. This event was specially planned to celebrate the new year , and we are fully satisfied that the cricket community celebrated the cricket . Organizers were thrilled to organize this event on 31st night. Mr W Koch , Chief Executive officer, Al Hashar Group was present to witness all the cricket matches and encourage the cricket lovers.Presenting the prizes at the end of the day, Mr. Koch Said” We play more of football in Germany. But after watching the live cricket I am delighted to have had this opportunity to support such an exciting event, which has provided a great day of cricket for everyone to enjoy, either as a player on the pitch or as a spectator in the stands.
Muscat Private Hospital cricket team reached to their final after winning the semifinal held with Bombay Boys Cricket Club . on the other side Al Faisal Group reached to finals after winning a close match over Muscat Pharmacy . In the final match, Muscat Private Hospital won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 32 runs for six wickets (Kaka- 13 not out , Suhail-7,) Imran from Al Faisal took 2 wickets for 10 runs. In reply Al faisal managed to score 33 runs for 8 wickets in 6.2 overs( Imran-8, Wajid-8)Ghanjafar from Muscat Private hospital took 3 wickets for 7 runs.
The players and audience also enjoyed the refreshment center exclusively maintained by Mumtaz Tea and Sultan center LLC, which served refreshments throughout the day. In addition to the Individual prizes, the top performers also Got the Alba Executive range of watches .
