RUWI XI WINS THE NAWRAS FAMILY CRICKET CUP
RUWI XI trounced Ceylone Boys Cricket club to Lift the NAWRAS sponsored NAWRAS FAMILY CRICKET TOURNAMNET 2009 , which took place on 9th January 2009 at the Oman hockey grounds in Wattayah. Having attracted an overwhelming response, the organizers declared the event to have been a huge success, providing entertainment and enjoyment not only for the 16 teams participating but also for the large crowd of enthusiastic supporters who watched the day's proceedings with great pleasure.
This event was specially planned to celebrate the new year , Organisers were thrilled to organize this event in the beginning of 2009.They said “We are extremely thankful to our sponsors teams , spectators and wish to congratulate all a very very happy new year 2009 .”. Parallel to this event the organizers also organized a Drawing and coloring competition and the chief guests selected the best drawing and the prizes were given to the winners. The drawing by Fatima Zeba , Class IV D Indian School Al Ghubra was declared as winner where as Anisha Mathew IInd and Shreya Dadhwal got the thrird prize. The chief guests also selected six drawings and awarded them with complimenrey prizes. All the participants of drawing completion also got a complimenary proze from SWEETS of Oman.
Presenting the prizes at the end of the day, Mr. Anwar Salim Al-Habsi - Events & Sponsorship Specialist Nawras alongwith Dr. V S Kumar , General Manager Mustafa Sultan Exchange company thanked the organizers for investing such dedication and enthusiasm, ensuring this tournament was such a triumph.
Congratulating the winners, Mr Anwar said, "We are delighted to have had this opportunity to support such an exciting event, which has provided a great day of cricket for everyone to enjoy, either as a player on the pitch or as a spectator in the stands.. We are delighted to encourage people to spend their time in healthy pursuits which also serve to set a good example to the younger members of society."
Dr Kumar said “we are thankful to organizers for giving us a opportunity to become a part of such a healthy event. Our support will also be there for such kind of events" The players and audience also enjoyed the Pocari drinks, Aquafina Water , Pepsi and the Tea throughout the day.
In addition to the Individual prizes, all the winners and Runners-up also enjoyed the Happy meal Gifts Sponsored by Chicking Fried chicken , Oman .
Match Details: - RUWI XI team reached to their final after winning the semifinal held with BAHWAN IT . The Ceylone Boys were already into their finals after competing with the Proton Warriors . In the final match, RUWI XI won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 47 runs from their eight over match and they lost a seven wickets. While batting second Ceylone boys Scored could score only 36 Runs for the loss of 3 wickets from their eight overs and they lost the match by 11 runs. Mr. Laiju from RUWI XI scored highest 17 runs.
Liju was given the prize of Man of the Final match , where as Prasad from Ruwi XI was declared as the Bowler of the tournament , Sanjeev from Proton warriors was awarded with Man of the tournament prize.
The organizers thanked all the sponsors viz NAWRAS Al Hashar Group of Companies, Sadolin Paints, Mustafa Sultan Exchange Company , Muscat Pharmacy , National Tea Company (Mumtaz) , Sweets of Oman and Chicking Fried Chicken their kind support to this event.
