Pommy of Asad XI gets best bowler and man of the tournament Award

Asad XI proved that they are the team to beat in domestic omani cricket by winning the Nawras Elite Ramadan Challengers Cricket Cup 2012 tournament organised by muscatcricket.blogspot.com


In the final held at the Sultan Qaboos Bowshar Stadium, Asad XI beat Coastal XI by 21 runs through a spectacular display of their all-round strength.


After being invited from Coastal XI to bat Asad XI scored a total of 49 runs for 6 wickets in their 8 overs . Asad XI started their innings with a very low score and after 5 overs they were at 12 runs for the loss of 5 wickets . With the entry of Irfan of Asad XI score zoomed to 49 runs within their allocated 8 overs. Irfan Scored 26 runs (Two Sixes, one four) and was unbeaten.



Challenging the target of 50 runs bowlers of Asad XI restricted the strong Coastal XI batting line-up to just 28 runs for 6 wickets in allocated 8 overs, led by Pommy’s three-wicket spell thereby losing the match by 21 runs.



Pommy, who was Asad XI’s most consistent bowler in the tournament, took 12 wickets including a hattrick from his six overs, giving away just 12 runs from the whole tournament was declared as the man of the tournament .



Earlier , in the 1st Semifinal match Asad XI won the toss and elected to field 1st . Nadeem and Rauf cracked the Al Faisal batting line up , both got two wickets in their allocated overs. Nadeem , Rauf and Pommy of Asad XI restricted Al Faisal for 37 runs for 6 wickets . The only two digits score contibutor from Al Faisal XI was Adnan who scored 13 runs.



In reply Asad XI managed to score 38 Runs for 3 wickets in 6.5 overs and highest contribution came from Nadeem of Asad XI who scored 17 runs (One Six) Adnan from Al Faisal managed to get 2 wickets



Man of the 1st Semi final Match was Nadeem of Asad XI.



In the 2nd Semi final Coastal XI narrowly escaped from the great challenging innings from Century Cricket Club. After losing toss Coastal XI Batting 1st scored 56 runs for 5 wickets. Deepak from Coastal scored 21 Runs for his team.



Chasing the target of 57 Runs Century Cricket Club scored 41 runs for 5 wickets in their 5 overs and from balance 3 overs only 15 runs to win was required.



Due to the impatience to Win fast in the 6th and 7th over three of their key players returned to dressing room because of run out.In the last over with only 5 more runs to win Century Cricket club could only score 3 runs and ended up with a score of 52 all out. The last over was bowled by Somu of coastal XI who gave two runs and took two wickets.



Deepak of the Coastal XI was declared man of tha match for his conrtibution towards batting and excellent fielding.

1st Day report :-

Al Seer Group, Asad XI , Al Khoudh CC and Janka XI shines in Nawras Elite Ramadan Challengers Cricket Cup 2012 .



The one month long Grand Nawras Ramadan challengers cricket tournament was inaugurated on Friday night at Sultan Qaboos Sports Stadium , Bowhar.



A huge cricket community from Sultanate was present to witness the inauguration of biggest cricket tournament at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Bowshar.







In his inaugural message Anwar Saleem Al Habsi Said “ Nawras is proud to sponsor this biggest cricket tournament in sultanate. Nawras is always keen to encourage healthy sporting pursuits, particularly those that generate interest and enthusiasm amongst younger generations.”







Organisers Said “This is the executive and best of its class cricket tournament organized from the cricket experts and for professional cricket players. We are satisfied with excellent response. Players from Salalah, Sohar, Nizwa are participating in this tournament very 1st time ”











The stadium was full to its capacity and cricket lovers from Sultanate enjoyed the live matches . Man of the match from all the matches won Gift Hamper from Nawras and meal coupons from McDonalds. All the participating teams and players also got the gift hampers from Al Seer Group (Kwality Ice cream division)







Vikash Vardan Sharma from Nawras and from Mustafa Sultan Exchange company Jose K John, Branch Manager , Al Khuwair Branch along with Yogender Singh , Branch Manager, Bowshar Branch was present give away the prizes to man of the matches.
