SECOND NAWRAS SOFTBALL CRICKET TOURNAMENT IS A TOP SUCCESS in Oman
The Sponsors - NAWRAS , Center Point (LandMark Group) , Al Hashar & Company , Muscat Pharmacy and RAHA (POLY PRODUCTS LLC ) were thrilled to sponsor the Second Nawras Softball Cricket Tournament, which took place on 23 rd May 2008 at the Oman hockey grounds in Wattayah. Having attracted an overwhelming response, the organisers declared the event to have been a huge success, providing entertainment and enjoyment not only for the 18 teams participating but also for the large crowd of enthusiastic supporters who watched the day's proceedings with great pleasure. Mr. Mohammed Al-Hasani Head of Corporate Affairs NAWRAS along with Mr. Hussein Al-Fadhil Sponsorship Manager NAWRAS , Mr. Werner K Koch- CEO - Al Hashar Group of Companies and Mr. Jagdish Marappa , IT Manager – Land Mark group ( Center Point ) were present to witness the final match .
The chief Guest Mr. Mohammed Al-Hasani Head of Corporate Affairs NAWRAS thanked the organisers for investing such dedication and enthusiasm, ensuring the tournament was such a triumph. Congratulating the winners, he said, "Nawras is delighted to have had this opportunity to support such an exciting event, which has provided a great day of cricket for everyone to enjoy, either as a player on the pitch or as a spectator in the stands. Nawras is keen to get closer to customers on occasions like this, providing great enjoyment for so many in the community. We are delighted to encourage people to spend their time in healthy pursuits which also serve to set a good example to the younger members of society."The tournament's organisers responded by presenting a decorative plaque to the sponsors, expressing their gratitude to Nawras , Land Mark Group and Al Hashar for supporting the occasion.
Final RESULTS :-
SEMIFINALS :- After fighting with their group matches ASAD XI , MUSCAT BEACH , Al FAISAL XI and Sri Lankan Tuskars reached to their Semi Finals . In the first semifinal Muscat Beach scored 56 runs while batting first and Sri lankan taskars were all out at 27 runs. In another crucial semifinal match between Al Faisal XI and ASAD XI the match was a TIE and both the teams scored 55 runs in their 8 overs. After ball out the Al FAISAL XI was declared as finalist with the help of Amir Kaleem and Sultan Ahmed's HIT wickets.
FINALS :- The final match was played between MUSCAT Beach XI and Al Faisal XI . Muscat Beach won the toss and they decided to boll first and Al Faisal XI set a Target of 76 Runs in their eight overs with the Help of Sultan Ahmed's 19 Runs contribution and Ameer Kaleem's 17 runs contribution. In reply Muscat Beach was all out at only 36 Runs. Mr. Amir kaleem was declared as the man of the Tournament /Batsman of the Tournament after scoring highest runs in the tournament ( 12 Sixes) and taking one Hatrick against the Indian Kings Matches. Mr. Sultan Ahmed was declared man of the Final match after taking 3 wickets for 19 runs. Mr. Said of of Muscat Beach was declared as the Best Bowler of the Tournament.
